Day 1: Arrival, Mall Road, and The Ridge
Morning/Afternoon: Arrival and Hotel Check-in
Arrive in Shimla via road or the Kalka-Shimla heritage railway. Transfer to your pre-booked hotel.
Settle in and have lunch.
Afternoon: Viceregal Lodge and State Museum
Visit the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (Viceregal Lodge), a magnificent British-era building that once housed the British Viceroy of India. Explore the architectural grandeur and the surrounding botanical gardens.
Nearby, you can visit the Himachal State Museum to view a collection of ancient artifacts, sculptures, and paintings that depict the region's cultural heritage.
Evening: The Ridge, Mall Road, and Scandal Point
Head to The Ridge, a large open space in the heart of Shimla that offers panoramic views of the surrounding hills.
Stroll along the pedestrian-only Mall Road, the main shopping street, lined with shops, cafes, and restaurants.
Visit the iconic Christ Church, known for its stunning Neo-Gothic architecture and beautiful stained glass windows.
Enjoy the sunset at Scandal Point, where the Mall Road and the Ridge converge.
Have dinner at one of the many local eateries and return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Kufri Excursion and Adventure
Morning: Drive to Kufri
After breakfast, take a scenic drive to the small hill station of Kufri, located about 16 km from Shimla.
Pass through the scenic Green Valley on the way, known for its lush forests and pleasant weather.
Late Morning: Kufri Activities
In Kufri, enjoy adventure activities like horse riding to Mahasu Peak, the highest point that offers stunning views of the Badrinath and Kedarnath ranges.
Explore the Himalayan Nature Park (zoo), which is home to rare Himalayan animals, including the snow leopard and the state bird of Himachal, the Monal.
Consider a visit to the Kufri Fun Park for more adventure activities (at your own cost).
Afternoon: Lakkar Bazaar
Return to Shimla and explore the lively Lakkar Bazaar, famous for its unique wooden handicrafts, souvenirs, and local items.
Evening: Leisure and Dinner
Spend the evening at leisure, perhaps trying local Himachali cuisine at a café or simply relaxing at your hotel.
Day 3: Jakhu Temple and Departure
Morning: Jakhu Temple
After an early breakfast, check out from the hotel.
Visit the Jakhu Temple, situated atop Jakhu Hill, the highest point in Shimla. You can take a scenic and quick ropeway ride or hike up to the temple to see the large Hanuman statue and enjoy panoramic city views.
Late Morning: Last-minute exploration (Optional)
If time permits, you can visit the Kali Bari Temple or Tara Devi Temple for a peaceful experience before leaving.
Afternoon: Departure
Begin your return journey to your onward destination (Chandigarh, Kalka, or Delhi) with fond memories of Shimla.
